A number of partnerships were formed following the DISC residentials, where individuals from science communication groups linked up with individuals from black and minority ethnic groups.
The British Science Association had already formed a partnership with the Newham African Caribbean Carers Forum (NACCF), and in November 2005 the two groups came together for an event at the Dana Centre in London.
A presentation and discussion with a clinician followed by a tour of the Science Museum was enjoyed by members of the NACCF.
The NACCF have also been involved in the drugsfutures project, a government consultation about people's desires and fears for future drugs policy in the UK.
