British Science Association and ESRC Science in Society Seminars
External link to ESRC

In 2005 and 2006 the British Science Association joined together with ESRC to run a series of seminars that brought together science communication practitioners and the social science community.

The ESRC Science in Society programme explores the rapidly changing relations between science and the wider society, while the British Science Association seeks to help develop a national strategy for science communication and the series aimed to disseminate social science research and build relationships between science communicators and social scientists.

The series was aimed at practitioners and academics committed to improving public engagement including policy makers, professionals, academics and students from a broad range of organisations including government departments, science centres and museums, research institutions, universities, industry, NGOs, education, funding organisations, learned societies and PR.

In the series of six, the first three seminars were held in November 2005, two in spring 2006 during National Science Week, and the final seminar on 6 June 2006 at the Dana Centre in London.

We hope to run a similar series in 2010
