In 2008 Georgina Humphreys from the University of Glasgow was voted the overall winner of the perspectives competition, with her poster 'Taking the bite out of malaria'.
Just like many other perspectives finalists, since then she's been focused on completing and writing up her PhD.
However she's still found time to put her skills to the test by taking part in various other public engagement and communication schemes.
Georgina also won the Parasitology Centenary Prize for the best student presentation at the 2009 British Society for Parasitology spring conference and completed a Researchers in Residence placement at a secondary school in Glasgow.
