Unfortunately we are only able to offer bursaries to people in the UK. For those outside the UK, a possible source of funding is the British Council

BURSARY APPLICATION CLOSED

Applications for the 2011 bursary scheme were open from 14 February - 1 April 2011, please apply again next year or sign up to our 2012 SCC e-lert

Bursary package
Awardees will have their conference fees paid and are eligible for a contribution of up to £250 to assist with travel and accommodation expenses. You will also be invited to the free networking drinks reception on 25 May.

As part of the bursary package, awardees will be required to write a 1 page summary report of one of the Conference sessions, along with a 1 page report about how you have disseminated your ideas to colleagues.

Selection
Bursaries are awarded to people involved in public engagement based on how we think they will benefit from attending the Conference, what they hope to take away and how they intend to disseminate information and ideas to others in their field.

When will I hear if I've been awarded a bursary?
We will let bursary applicants know if they've been successful by 15 April 2011.

If you apply for a bursary but are not selected and would still like to attend, you are guaranteed a place at the Conference and will only be charged the discounted early bird conference fee.

Working with the British Science Association
After the Science Communication Conference we encourage awardees to stay involved with the British Science Association. This could be by volunteering with our Branches or sections, getting involved with National Science and Engineering Week or the British Science Festival or becoming a CREST mentor, and we are keen to explore ways we can work with bursary awardees in future.

I am quite new to science communication, do I need to prepare anything in advance?
No. However it may be useful to look at the background reading page for information on public engagement.

Who has been awarded a bursary in the past?
