Science Communication Conference
Science Communication Conference 2009

The Science Communication Conference took place on 22 and 23 June 2009 at Kings Place, central London.

The British Science Association worked in partnership with the Wellcome Trust to organise the 2009 Conference. BP and the Department for Innovation, Universities & Skills also provided support.

The Conference addresses the key issues facing science communicators in the UK and each year brings together people who are engaged in public engagement - a diverse group of people from a broad range of backgrounds. It is a fantastic opportunity to network, share ideas and good practice.

In 2009, alongside sessions covering the whole range of activities within public engagement, the Conference had a central focus - 'Behaviour and Choice' - exploring the role that science communicators should or could play as influencers of behavioural change.

We offered a bursary scheme this year with funding from the Department for Business Innovation & Skills.

Costs for the Conference include an Early-Bird offer. This year we also offered concessionary rates for artists, students and the unemployed.

"I enjoyed meeting such a diverse range of people and found the breakout sessions particularly interesting"
