Andrew Hunt was a science teacher in four contrasting schools for 20 years. During that time he was also a contributor, as writer and examiner, to the development and assessment of the Nuffield Chemistry courses.
Subsequently he was involved in a series of curriculum development projects for the Nuffield Foundation, the Association for Science Education, The University of York Science Education Group and other organisations. Among the projects were Nuffield Chemistry, Salters Chemistry, SATIS and Science across the World. He was the first director of the Nuffield Curriculum Centre until 2007 where he was responsible for oversight of major projects in science, technology and mathematics.
For seven years, Andrew was the vice-president of the British Science Association with responsibility for the Young People’s Programme.
Andrew continues to work as author and editor of a wide range of textbooks and multimedia resources. He is active in developing the Twenty First Century Science and Science in Society projects.
In 1988, Andrew was awarded the Royal Society of Chemistry Award in Chemical Education. He received an honorary doctorate at the University of York in 2009.
