Ms Lorelly Wilson
The British Science Association as we know it could not exist without people like Lorelly who give tireless voluntary service to its cause. Since the formation of the North West branch, her dedication as Secretary is the organisational driving force which has kept the Committee active and has energised the Branch. She has encouraged new Committee members to replace those leaving, and has undertaken significant additional work herself, where others have let her down, rather than disappoint potential audiences or damage the British Science Association’s reputation. She personally established the North West Science Alliance alongside the British Science Association's Branch, and the two organisations have been mutually beneficial in promoting science communication. Lorelly has also worked as Recorder of the British Science Association's Chemistry Section, and is just retiring from the British Science Association's Council after a valuable period of six years, over a major period of change for the organisation.
