  • National Science and Engineering Week (for example, an intensive week of project work with CREST awards presented to students at the end of the week or shortly afterwards)
  • Fills a curriculum gap: CREST is often used with students at the end of Year 9. CREST can be an engaging way to assess students at the end of Year 9.

Commitment:

  • Takes around 10 hours project time per student
  • Can be completed as individual or team project

Project Selection:

  • Self-selected by students
  • Chosen by the teacher
  • Provided by local company or university
  • Provided by CREST link scheme/activity (see below)
  • Chosen from the CREST online project ideas resource

Project Approval:

  • Teacher approves project
  • Mentor is optional

Registration:

  • Teacher registers students/project with their local coordinator
  • The registration fee is currently £4 per student

Recording:

  • CREST Bronze profile form and if available portfolio/report

Reviewing:

  • Two reviews by teacher or mentor
  • Final evaluation by teacher with help of another teacher or mentor
