Fireworks at Age Concern

Twelve students and their science teacher, Jenny O’Flaherty, from Downlands School presented a special Bonfire Night Science Club at Age Concern, Hassocks on Wednesday 5th November.
The students, who are from years seven, eight and nine, demonstrated how to make sparklers and explained the science behind fireworks.
Even though the room quickly filled with smoke, the member of Age Concern thoroughly enjoyed the event. One member went so far as to comment "Science was never this much fun when I was at school!"
