Help save our UK Bees!

Across the world honey bee numbers are declining and fast. Billions of the UK’s bees are dying from unknown causes and one in three honey bee colonies in the UK were lost last winter alone!

Honey bees are very important for
everyone. They pollinate more than 100 crops – including fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds – and these foods then go on to feed us and many other animals, including farm animals.

So whether you live in the countryside or the city, everyone across the UK can join in and plant bee friendly plants. You can still get involved. Go to our dedicated website www.saveourbees.org.uk. Rowse Honey joined forces with major stakeholders in the UK beekeeping industry (the BBKA, BFA and NFU). As a result of crisis talks, Rowse Honey has pledged to invest £100,000 raised from its sales to Professor Francis Ratnieks and his team at the UK's leading "bee lab" based in the University of Sussex. A bee breeding programme is currently underway at the University to develop strains of honeybee which are naturally more resistant to parasites and disease. See here for more information.
