Public Engagement with Research Workshops

The British Science Association is running a series of workshops about Public Engagement with Research for those funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).

Our workshops will help leading EPSRC researchers to learn about new opportunities for public engagement with research, specifically:

  • What public engagement is and why it matters 
  • Developing the connection between public engagement and research
  • Opportunities for funding
  • Examples and case studies of good public engagement
  • Sources of support, guidance and best practice

Royal Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh 9.30 - 13.00

Friday 30 September 2011
Bristol Zoo, Bristol 9.30 -13.00

The above workshops are for full-time academic researchers funded by EPSRC with at least 2 years post-doc research experience.

Monday 31 October 2011
Dana Centre, London 13.00 - 17.00
This workshop is for administrators working within Universities, supporting EPSRC funded researchers.

Although EPSRC are no longer funding public engagement activities via their Partnerships for Public Engagement Scheme, they are embedding it through their research and training investments. Public engagement activities will continue to be supported via research grants as part of the Pathways to Impact plan.
