West Yorkshire Branch
The West Yorkshire branch is primarily based in Leeds and recently has 'grown' a twig in Bradford that is a legacy from the British Science Festival 2011 in Bradford.
The West Yorkshire Branch is currently looking for enthusiastic, dedicated volunteers to join their committee!
This is a perfect opportunity to get involved in organising innovative and exciting events which engage the public with science. You needn’t be a scientific expert - non-scientists with an interest in marketing, events management, and finance may also find valuable volunteering opportunities with the branch.
Interested? Email Sabah Adams, Regional Engagement Officer, for more information about volunteering with the West Yorkshire Branch.
Please Note: Our regional Branches are run by volunteers over 18 years of age. If your enquiry is about volunteer opportunities for under 18s, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
National Science & Engineering Week 2012
As part of University wide events for NSEW 2012 the West Yorkshire Branch invited A-level and GCSE pupils from local schools and colleges to come and learn more about drugs in sport. Students were given the chance to carry out a mock drugs test and this was followed by a debate on the ethics of the use of drugs and gene doping in sport. This was funded by the Wellcome Trust.
