Event Description

Welcome to Future Debates, a series of events supported by the British Science Association.

What's the point of this event?

These events are part of our work to make science a fundamental part of British society and culture. We want to empower many more people – not just scientists – to constructively engage in debates over the applications and implications of science in their lives, their local economy and the UK’s future.

This year's Future Debate aims to address concerns about the increasing use of Robots and Autonomous Systems in many areas of our lives. The focus will be on looking into the future and considering how our children's lives will be affected, for better or worse.

What's the agenda?

There will be a panel discussion at 7.30pm. Beforehand, from 6.30pm, there will be an opportunity to discuss informally the topic with local experts.

What are my parking options if I come by car?

Unfortunately, there is no on-site parking at Hamilton House.

On street pay and display car parking can be found throughout Stokes Croft and St Pauls. Additionally, there are two car parks within 10 minutes walk; NCP on Bond Street and Cabot Circus on Newfoundland Circus BS2 9AB

Will there be refreshments?

Yes, there will be tea and coffee at £1 a cup, plus nibbles. You will also be able to bring alcoholic drinks up from the bar as long as the glasses are returned there afterwards.
