We are pleased to announce that nominations for the annual Award Lectures and the call for proposals for the British Science Festival 2017 are now open.

As revealed earlier this year, the British Science Festival will be coming to Brighton from 5-9 September 2017, co-hosted by the University of Brighton and the University of Sussex

Propose an event

The Festival is a national platform to showcase cutting-edge research, celebrate latest scientific developments and engage in open discussion about issues that affect our culture and society.

We need your help to curate a vibrant programme of events!

Anyone can propose an event – individuals, researchers, organisations or academic institutions from all over the UK.

Festival events will take place during the daytime on the university campuses, followed by events throughout the city each evening and all day Saturday 9 September 2017. On-campus events will take place in lecture theatres, and will be a speaker-and-audience format. Off-campus events will take place in a wide variety of venues and we are particularly interested in events with creative formats, topics and ideas.

Proposals should be aimed at non-specialist adults with an interest in science.

Nominate an Award Lecture

For over 20 years, the British Science Association has acknowledged the work of promising early career researchers, through its Award Lecture series held at the British Science Festival.

Nominations for early career scientists, who are passionate about communicating their research, are now being sought.

The Award Winners will present their lectures at the British Science Festival 2017. Winners will also receive an all expenses paid trip to the Festival, public engagement training, a £250 honorarium and an invitation to the Festival Dinner on Thursday 7 September 2017. There may also be opportunities to present the Award Lecture at other festivals in the UK.

The deadline for the Award Lecture nominations is at 9am Monday 6 March 2017.

The deadline for the call for proposals is at 9am Monday 27 March 2017.
