JOB TITLE: Education Assistant

REPORTING TO: Education Manager

BASED: British Science Association, Wellcome Wolfson Building, 165 Queen's Gate, London SW7 5HD

TERMS: Full time 35 hours per week, permanent contract

SALARY: £17,000 - £20,000 per annum

This is an opportunity to join an ambitious and changing organisation which aims to make science a fundamental part of our culture and society. We want all young people to value science as a part of their culture, and we are embarking on a mission to diversify the opportunities for young people to engage with, shape and challenge science.

The British Science Association (BSA) is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and skilled person to help us implement this new vision. You will be based in the BSA’s Education team. You will be responsible for supporting the CREST Awards programme through which 5 to 19-year-olds carry out their own, hands-on science and engineering projects. You will support teachers, partner organisations and young people to understand the scheme and complete their CREST Awards. You will maintain information about CREST on our websites and databases. You will help to plan and deliver an annual grants scheme for schools, called Kick Start, which is part of our British Science Week campaign.

This role would suit someone with six months to one year’s experience of working within the education, science or charity sectors in a voluntary or paid capacity. You will be willing to undertake the regular admin tasks which are critical to the delivery of our programmes. We can offer you the opportunity to develop within the role by taking on more responsibility as you develop your skills and experience.
