Valerie Marshall

Valarie’s career has been in private equity investment and corporate finance, following an Economics degree from Cambridge University and MBA at London Business School. She invested with 3i and the Scottish Development Agency (now Scottish Enterprise), before becoming Head of Business Enterprise at Scottish Enterprise. On moving south, she became Corporate Finance Director with stockbrokers Greig Middleton & Co, where she led the life sciences initiative. She is currently Chief Executive Officer of Stratagem Corporate Finance and Strategy Ltd, a corporate finance company focusing on life sciences.

Valerie has held a number of public sector board appointments, including being a Commissioner on the Monopolies and Mergers Commission, a Governor of the Glasgow School of Art, Chair of the University of Kent’s Council and Deputy Chair of the National Committee of University Chairs.

She is a Non-Executive Director of the Baronsmead VCT and various private companies. Since leaving the University, she has become a member of the Investment Committee of the recently-established £50m Angel Co-Investment Fund, which invests in companies alongside business angel syndicates. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.
