The British Science Association is hosting the Underrepresented Audiences (URA) Teacher Network Summer Conference from 27 June to 7 July 2022!

The URA Teacher Network conference is for all educators (not just those who work with underrepresented audiences in STEM) and will showcase how we are working with teachers to bring more diverse voices into the STEM in education conversation and help more young people see science as a relevant part of their lives.

This conference will be hosted online and is free for teachers and staff in schools and colleges across the U.K.

We will share examples of how our education programmes, including CREST Awards and British Science Week, are being used in schools to engage young people from diverse and disadvantaged backgrounds in science.

We have also invited experts from science education to share their research and expertise. We will also have teacher representatives who will share their experience in delivering projects in SEND schools.

This is an eight-day online conference, with two sessions each day. Registering for the conference will give you a link to join any of the sessions you are interested in.

The conference will help you:

  • get advice and ask questions about making a grant application for CREST Awards or British Science Week 2023
  • hear case studies of previously funded projects and events to get ideas and tips from teachers
  • network with teachers in similar schools to yours
  • find out about new funding, projects, and resources available to your school
  • participate in mini-CPD sessions on project-based learning, Science Capital, and engaging SEN pupils
  • join a discussion with a panel of teachers and stakeholders on making STEM more inclusive in schools.
