The British Association for the Advancement of Science, trading as the British Science Association, is a charity formed by Royal Charter, registered charity number 212479.

The British Science Association's governing documents are: ROYAL CHARTER DATED 21 APRIL 1928 AS VARIED BY SUPPLEMENTAL CHARTER DATED 3 AUGUST 1960 AND REVISED STATUES DATED 15 AUGUST 1960, SUPPLEMENTAL CHARTER DATED 10 FEBRUARY 1997 AND AMENDED STATUTES DATED 18 MAY 2006.
