Partner statement (2019):

At Diageo we have a proud history of developing partnerships, programmes and initiatives that address the issues that are most material to our business as well as the communities in which we operate. As such, we are delighted to be supporting the Huxley Summit for another year.

Over the course of 2018 we’ve been working with the British Science Association to consider the topic of risk – an important concept in the informing and communicating of decisions. Science has a crucial role to play within this, as it is uniquely placed to explain risks as well as guide and inform future decision making. Through our collaboration with the BSA, we hope to encourage the greater use of evidence-based decision making among policy makers, businesses, academics and beyond and the theme of this year’s Summit provides the perfect platform to continue this conversation.

We hope that our risk workshop will open the debate and bring together people from academia, government and business to formulate principles and approaches to risk, and that established institutions can adopt these insights to inform and persuade the public and bring about the best possible outcome.
