• All entrants: 
  • Users (those who create an account on the website): Name, email address 
  • Students: Name, school name, school year,

• Finalists: 
  • Responsible/accompanying adult: Name, email address, phone number, dietary requirements, accessibility needs 
  • Students: Name, school name and address, gender, date of birth, year group, dietary requirements, accessibility needs 
• Special commendation awardees: 
  • Postal address to post certificate

How we collect the data 

• Through our online application platform, and through data received from Engineering UK. 

Retention period 

• Until the competition is completed, and all prizes are administrated. Student winner data will be kept indefinitely as part of a legacy record. 

Shared with a third party? 

• Finalist full names and school names will be published online and shared with the media as part of the Competition publicity.
• We use an award platform run by Award Force who process the data submitted to the competition for the purposes of administrating the competition. We have a data processing agreement in place with them, and you can view their privacy policy here. 

• We share competition finalists’ data with Engineering UK, who run the Big Bang Fair, and are joint controllers for all Youth Industrial Strategy Competition finalists. You can view their privacy policy here.
• Finalist name, age and school name, and adult name and email will be shared with Mango PMRC to support with publicity around the projects. We have a data agreement with Mango.
• Finalist and special commendation names, schools and postal addresses will be shared with Oxted printers for personalised certificate printing.
