CREST Bronze
Find out which materials are best for swimming costumes
World-class swimmers need to make every second count when they’re trying to win races; one way is to wear smooth, tight swimming costumes. Often they shave all the hair off their bodies, and wear skin-tight hats on their heads. Find out which ones materials would be best for swimming costumes and why.

CREST Silver
Design a snorkel and face mask
You will be given a design brief and you have to come up with a new snorkelling product. You have to decide what the product will be made from, and how the bits will be joined, so you’ll have to do some materials testing.

CREST Gold
Research the science behind scuba diving
Consider the physics and physiology – and create a presentation for people learning to dive. Central to the presentation will be a model (or models) to demonstrate some of the science you’re teaching. The suggestion in the title of this project is a model regulator.
