We are delighted to once again be working with Yakult, who are supporting the 2018 British Science Festival with both activities at the Festival and a series of science busking events in the lead up, based on the theme of Science, not Magic!

This summer, our Science, not Magic! Busking team – public engagement officers and science students from the University of Hull’s Street Science team – have been performing a series of magic tricks with a difference... While magicians do not reveal their secrets, science buskers explain the science or maths behind the demonstrations. You can catch them next at Freedom Festival in Hull on 1 and 2 September.

Yakult is also offering British Science Festival-goers two chances to interact with science in a fun and entertaining way; firstly through their unique Artificial Intelligence Vending Machine which uses voice recognition to offer a free bottle of Yakult to anybody willing to learn a word in Japanese and secondly, at the Hull Science Festival (this year’s BSF Family Weekend), through a series of hands-on activities that will explore the role of good and bad bacteria in our bodies.
