JOB TITLE: Engagement Officer

REPORTING TO: Engagement Manager

BASED:  British Science Association, Wellcome Wolfson Building, 165 Queen's Gate, London SW7 5HD

TERMS:  Full time 35 hours per week, permanent contract

SALARY:  £20,000 - £25,000 p/a (pro-rata)

The Engagement Officer will be overseen by the Engagement Manager and will specialise in co-ordinating content for the British Science Festival and administrating the UK Science Festivals Network. This will be the main focus of the job but the officer will have the opportunity to occasionally work across other programmes on ‘away projects’ and will report to the manager(s) of those projects.

This role would suit someone with an interest in public engagement with science and at least six-months’ experience working with science festivals and/or events, in either a voluntary or paid capacity.

From time to time the job entails working extended hours and occasional weekends, for which no overtime payments are made. However, the Association does operate a time off in lieu policy. The Association offers a number of benefits to employees who complete three months’ service and probationary period, including a contributory pension scheme and an interest free season ticket or bicycle loan scheme. All employees are eligible to have death in service insurance from day one of service.
