Are bursaries available for the Science Communication Conference? Expand Applications for bursaires have now closed. We hope to inform applicants by the end of April. Unsuccessful applicants for bursaries will still have access to the early bird rate after this date.
What networking opportunities are there at the Conference? Expand At the 2015 conference, we will have dedicated refreshment and networking sessions on both days, for delegates to meet and share ideas. In addition to this, there will be fringe events on Wednesday 17; A Speed Networking session and evening entertainment on Thursday 18; and Bad Bugs Book club on Friday 19. Can I get a discount? Expand For the 2015 Conference, we will offer an early bird rate of £160 for a two-day pass for bookings made before 31 March. In addition, the following groups can access discounted rates of £160=two-day, £85=one-day pass: Unemployed Undergraduate students British Science Association volunteers Freelancers. Who attends the Conference? Expand We welcome anyone who works in or has an interest in public engagement with science. That includes people who work in all sectors, as well as freelancers and small consultancies. The Conference will include sessions for all levels of experience, from seasoned pros to those new to the sector. This year, we have divided the sessions into interested, experienced and expert, to indicate the level of familiarity you will need to get the most out of the sessions. We recognise that some people might have different levels of expertise in different fields, so you don’t have to attend all the sessions in a particular stream. Interested – an audience keen to learn new skills and find out a bit of background about science communication Experienced – people with experience in science communication, who might be looking to find out about new developments, or best practice Expert - Those who are looking for a detailed debate on in-depth topics relating to science communication

If I can’t attend, can I cancel my ticket, or give it to a colleague? Expand Cancellation of a conference place must be made in writing to [email protected], and acknowledged by the BSA. These will be subject to an administrative charge of 20%. Any cancellations advised less than 28 days prior to the conference will not be refunded but a colleague can attend in your place.
