Silver Awards
Silver Awards stretch students and enrich their studies. They are typically completed by 14-16yr olds; around 30 hours of project work is expected. They are suitable coursework (e.g. GCSE Design and Technology) and project work for work related learning, and the new Diplomas can achieve CREST Silver Awards.

Commitment:
Takes around 30 hours project time per student
Can be completed as individual, team project or club activity (assessment is based on individual achievement)
Project Selection:
Self-selected by students
Chosen by the teacher
Provided by local company or university
Provided by CREST link scheme/activity (see below)
Chosen from the CREST online project ideas resource
Project Approval:
Teacher approves project
Mentor is optional but advisable
CREST Local Coordinator can help if clarification needed on any project
Registration:
Teacher registers students/project with CREST Local Coordinator
The registration fee is currently £8 per student
Recording:
CREST Silver profile form and portfolio/report completed
Reviewing:
Minimum three reviews by teacher or mentor
Final evaluation by industrial or educational evaluator selected by local coordinator and in conjuction with mentor if appropriate.
Please note: A CREST assessor may decide to issue a Bronze Award or suggest further work for the link schemes/activities above if the Silver Award criteria is not met.
